What Is The Best Overall Diameter For A Yawara Stick

Q - I am getting a lot out of your videos and really appreciate them. The question I have is what is the best overall diameter? I have a wooden one from a past purchase on your site which is a little under an inch, I also have a tapered one that is 5/8" and tapers to 5/16". Finally I have a 1/2" titanium rod with a center grip from which seems pretty hefty in terms of impact for its size. Is there any advantage in getting a thinner one such as 3/8" in case more concentrated pressure is needed or should the focus be mainly on impact with the 1/2 and 3/4 inch ones which are probably good overall the key pressure point areas. Thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely, Frank

A Hello Frank,
it's really about personal preference. First I would select the size that best fits comfortably in your hand.  The second question would be if you plan on using the stick more for impact or pressure points.

I prefer one around 1/2 or close to it. I use the stick most for pressure points and nerve stimulation. But I also want to be able to use it for striking.  I find a stick that is around a 1/2 inch can be used for both and it is also easy to carry and manipulate.

But that is just my preference. I know others who I work with that like a larger diameter.

I hope that answers your question.
